Indian head Massage is a holistic treatment restoring balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit and promoting wellbeing.
Massage has always played an important part in life in India, featuring in the earliest Ayurvedic texts from nearly 4,000 years ago. These ancient texts describe that massage encourages the body’s innate healing energy when used together with herbs, spices and aromatic oils.
This form of massage was introduced to the West in the 1970s by the osteopath and massage therapist Narendra Mehta.
The massage involves the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, head and face. It can be performed with or without oils, with your clothes on or with your upper back/shoulders uncovered. The client is usually comfortably sitting down while the whole session is taking place.
Before your session you can choose the aromatic oil that will be used.
It is beneficial for stress-related problems, joint stiffness, muscular tension, sinus problems, hair and scalp health, eye strain and on the whole it boosts the immune system as well as local and lymphatic circulation. So it has an underlying health-supporting function, helping your body and mind heal and re-balance themselves and return to improved health.
As with a Reiki treatment, the massage facilitates the clearance of free radicals from the body, therefore drinking plenty of water in the days following the treatment is advised to flush the residual toxins.
The cost is £30 for a 45 minute session.
